Lisa Hatfield is a MECA Instructor at VanderCook College of Music and serves as the 5th grade band and orchestra teacher across six elementary schools in Batavia, IL. She co-founded and directs Encore!, Batavia’s premier summer music camp, and has co-instructed bands at Rotolo Middle School. Alongside her K-12 roles, Hatfield has taught continuing education courses through VanderCook’s MECA program for over a decade.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree from VanderCook College of Music (graduated with honors)
- Master’s in Educational and Instructional Technology from Northern Illinois University
Research interests focus on innovative teaching methodologies in music education, leveraging technology to enhance instruction, and community-based music programs. Her work emphasizes accessibility and student engagement in ensemble settings.
Awards highlight her impact: recipient of the 2023 Yamaha “40 Under 40” Educator distinction and the Kane County Women of Distinction Award. Her district has been honored nine times by NAMM as a “Best Community for Music Education.”
