Julie Popplewell is an Applied Oboe Instructor and MECA Instructor at VanderCook College of Music. She holds a Bachelors of Music in Oboe Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she won the Smith Music Competition. Her pedagogical focus emphasizes reed-making and oboe performance, with a studio of over 30 students. She has performed with ensembles like the Chicago Modern Orchestra Project and Chicago Camerata, and is a soloist with Bel Sonore Chamber Ensemble and Duo Voce.
