Steven Schmidt is an Adjunct Professor of Music Education at Duquesne University's Mary Pappert School of Music. He is actively involved in music education at both higher education and K–12 levels, teaching General Music and Chorus from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade at Bradford Woods Elementary School in the North Allegheny School District. Additionally, he serves as conductor of the Talisman Choir for the Pittsburgh Youth Chorus and as a vocal coach and staging director for middle school musical productions.

Steven Schmidt specializes in music education with a focus on choral and vocal training for young learners. He integrates instructional design principles into his teaching, reflecting his graduate training. His work emphasizes experiential learning, performance, and curriculum development for early music education.
Steven is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA), the National Association for Music Education, and the American Orff-Schulwerk Association, where he holds Orff Certification Levels I and II. He has been invited to present at the PMEA Annual Conference, Fairfax County Public Schools, Duquesne University, and North Allegheny. His ensembles, including the Talisman Choir and the Bradford Woods Singing Tigers, have performed at the PMEA State Convention and toured nationally and internationally, including performances in Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and London, England.
Steven has been guest conductor and presenter at Elementary Sing Festivals across Pennsylvania and at the PMEA state convention. He also collaborates with major cultural institutions such as the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Opera, and the Chautauqua Institute. Under his leadership, the Talisman Choir has participated in the International Children's Choir Festival in London under the direction of Henry Leck.
