Richard Susskind OBE, CBE is a Visiting Professor at the Oxford Internet Institute (OII) and a leading authority on legal technology and AI's societal impact. He holds concurrent roles as Technology Adviser to the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, President of the Society for Computers and Law, and Special Envoy for Justice and AI to the Commonwealth Secretary-General. His research focuses on AI-driven transformation of professions, online courts, and digital justice systems.
He has served on the OII Advisory Board for over 20 years, including 11 years as Chair until 2022. Susskind holds honorary professorships at UCL and Gresham College, and has authored 11 books including The Future of the Professions and Online Courts and the Future of Justice. His work explores ethical implications of AI, digital governance, and legal system modernization.
Key awards include the CBE, honorary King’s Counsel status, and global recognition for advancing legal technology. He advises governments and judiciaries worldwide on AI integration into justice systems, emphasizing equitable access to justice through technology.
