Richard Smith is an Associate Professor of Biblical Studies at Taylor University, affiliated with the Biblical Studies, Christian Ministries, Intercultural Studies & Philosophy Department. He has taught biblical exegesis and theology for 23 years, covering Old Testament and New Testament surveys, elective courses, and the biblical literature capstone.
- PhD in Divinity from the University of Cambridge (King’s College)
- ThM in New Testament Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary
- BSA in Animal Sciences from the University of Arkansas
His research focuses on ethics and moral theory in the Bible, narrative prophetic theologizing, and Hebrew Bible wisdom literature. His publications explore interdisciplinary intersections of biblical criticism, theological ethics, and literary analysis.
Recent scholarly contributions include essays on Davidic ethics, Job’s paradoxical integrity, and wisdom literature hermeneutics. These works emphasize narrative ethics, prophetic justice, and theological interpretations of Hebrew texts.
