Rajkumar Boaz Johnson is a Professor of Hebrew, Bible, and Theological Studies at North Park University’s College of Arts & Sciences, where he has taught since 2003. His work bridges biblical scholarship with intercultural theological inquiry, particularly focusing on the intersection of evangelical Christianity and global religious traditions.
- Education: PhD in Hebrew Bible/Theological Studies (Trinity International University), ThM in Hebrew Bible and Semitic Languages (Trinity Evangelical Divinity School), MDiv in New Testament Studies (Union Biblical Seminary, India), BA in Economics (University of Delhi).
Johnson’s research explores biblical theology, environmental ethics, intertextuality in ancient texts, and the application of scriptural teachings to contemporary social issues like human trafficking. His courses include Poetry and Wisdom Literature of the Hebrew Bible, World Religions, and Conflict and Reconciliation.
His scholarly output includes publications on ecotheology, Old Testament interpretation in Syriac Christian traditions, and lectures at academic conferences such as the Society of Biblical Literature. Notably, he delivered a paper titled The Use of the Old Testament in the Syrian Orthodox Jacobite and Marthomite Traditions (2010) and presented on The Myth of Baliraja (2016).
Johnson mentors students by integrating their faith journeys with academic rigor and advocates for holistic education. He resides in Chicago but cherishes his roots in New Delhi, where his spiritual and intellectual quest began.
