Denise Flanders is an Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies at Taylor University, Upland, IN, and an adjunct professor of Biblical Languages at Fuller Theological Seminary. She holds a PhD in Hebrew Bible and Ancient Near East Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary and has published extensively on the Deuteronomistic History.
- Education: PhD, MA (Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary), BA (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill)
Research Interests focus on the Hebrew Bible, particularly the Former Prophets, historical books, and narrative literature. Her work explores rhetorical devices in biblical texts, inductive study methods, and the ethical/spiritual relevance of the Old Testament.
Scientific Awards include multiple grants, fellowships, and participation scholarships in academic programs. Notably, she received the Wabash Center's Teaching and Learning Workshop award (2022) and two Women’s Giving Circle Grants ($5,000/year, 2020-22).
Advising & Speaking engagements include contributions to the Bible in God’s World Commentary series (under contract for 1-2 Samuel and Interpreting Biblical Numbers) and appearances on religious podcasts (First Reading Podcast, BCTLE) discussing faith integration in pedagogy.
