Roberts’ research focuses on ethnic minority enterprise, business demographics, SME finance, and UK small business policy. Recent projects examine the long-term evolution of UK ethnic minority business policy and the sustainability of Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs).
His scholarly contributions span topics like venture survival modeling, bank-led entrepreneurship training, and policy critiques of ethnic minority enterprise initiatives. Roberts has received recognition through his MBE and fellowship with the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE). He continues to collaborate with institutions such as the Cambridge Centre for Historical Geography and advise on SME finance for the UK Treasury Select Committee.
