Richard Roberts is Professor and Professorial Research Fellow at Aston University's Aston Business School, affiliated with the Centre for Research in Ethnic Minority Entrepreneurship (CREME). With a background as Barclays' Chief Economist and extensive experience in SME banking policy, his research addresses ethnic minority enterprise development, business demographics, and small business finance.

- Historical trends in business formation
Recent publications focus on new venture survival prediction, firm growth randomness debates, and critical analyses of entrepreneurship training efficacy. Methodological approaches blend econometric analysis with conceptual critiques of business growth theories.
Honored as MBE for contributions to economic research. Serves on advisory panels including the Treasury Select Committee on SME Finance and the British Business Bank.
