Prof. Rianka Rijnhout is a Full Professor of Institutions, Conflict Resolution, and Private Law at Utrecht University's Molengraaff Institute for Private Law. She is affiliated with the Montaigne Centre for the Rule of Law and Utrecht Centre for Accountability and Liability Law (UCALL). Her work focuses on compensation systems, liability law, and interdisciplinary legal research to improve claim resolution for victims and institutions. She chairs the Standardization Working Group of the Personal Injury Council and serves as a deputy judge at the Overijssel District Court.
- Education: LL.B. and LL.M. (cum laude) from Utrecht University (2001-2007), Ph.D. in 2012.
- Research: Explores compensation systems (e.g., liability law, no-fault compensation), conflict resolution, and institutional fairness. Leads the Empirical Legal Research into Institutions for Conflict Resolution (ERI) initiative under the Sector Plan for Law.
