Prof. Elbert de Jong is a Professor of Private Law at Utrecht University, affiliated with the Utrecht Centre for Accountability and Liability Law (Ucall) and the Molengraaff Institute for Private Law. He holds a PhD from Utrecht University (2016) and has conducted postdoctoral research at Oxford University (2017–2018) under an NWO-Rubicon grant. His expertise spans liability law, risk regulation, and civil procedure, with a focus on societal challenges like climate change, innovation, and autonomous systems. He contributes to the Dutch Journal of Civil Law as an editorial board member and advises policymakers, including the Dutch Parliament on climate litigation.
