Rhys Ap Gwilym is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at Bangor Business School, Bangor University. He holds a PhD in Behavioral Finance from Cardiff University (2009) and has published extensively in journals like the Journal of Banking and Finance and Southern Economic Journal.
- Research Interests: Behavioral finance, DSGE modeling, spatial economics, public finance, and land financialization.
- Teaching: First-year Economics and third-year Fiscal Economics.
His recent work focuses on regional economic disparities in Wales, particularly how geographical access to finance impacts development and the role of land taxation. He contributes to Welsh Government projects and the Institute of Welsh Affairs, emphasizing tax policy and regional development aligned with Sustainable Development Goals. Notable projects include technical assessments of local land value taxes and comparative analyses of tourist tax systems.
