Dr. Linda Osti is a Senior Lecturer in Tourism Management at Bangor University’s Bangor Business School, leading the Tourism, Destinations, and Place Engagement research group. Her work focuses on sustainable tourism, socio-cultural aspects, and green tourist behavior, emphasizing local community well-being. She holds a PhD in Consumer Behaviour in Tourism from Victoria University, Melbourne. Previously, she worked for 14 years at Italy’s Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, serving as vice-director of the Competence Centre Tourism and Mobility. She contributed to Italy’s Technical and Scientific Committee for Mountain Development at the Ministry of Regional Affairs.
Her research explores equitable tourism forms, community guardianship, and industry-applied projects. She has authored/co-authored over 40 publications, including studies on visitor taxation impacts, sustainable tourism policy, and destination management. She actively supervises students in sustainable tourism, consumer behavior, and host community well-being.
Recent work includes analyzing Wales’ tourism tax plans, visitor levies’ global impacts, and the socio-cultural dynamics of tourism destinations. She co-chaired the 2023 TomSust conference and hosted visiting scholars like Venice Ibanez. Her research bridges academic insights with practical applications for equitable and sustainable tourism development.
