Dr. Rebecca Wragg Sykes is an Honorary Research Associate at the University of Cambridge and an Honorary Fellow at the University of Liverpool. She specializes in prehistoric archaeology, with a focus on Neanderthal lifeways, cognition, and material culture, as well as the history of archaeology and gender studies.

Her research spans Neanderthal technological organization, lithic analysis in the Massif Central, and the socio-political dimensions of archaeology. She co-founded the TrowelBlazers project to highlight women's contributions to geosciences and collaborates with initiatives like Breakthrough Listen.
Her recent academic publications explore Neanderthal cognition, gender equity in archaeology, and the cultural implications of lithic technology. She received the PEN Hessell-Tiltman Prize (2021) for her book Kindred: Neanderthal Life, Love, Death and Art, which redefines public understanding of Neanderthals.
