Dr. Rebecca Oatley is a Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences at Cardiff University, specializing in social work and dementia care. She teaches on the MA Social Work qualification program and has extensive experience as a qualified social worker in statutory and third-sector services for older adults and individuals living with dementia. Her research focuses on social work with older adults, diversity in dementia experiences, post-diagnostic support interventions, and translating research into clinical practice.

Research Interests: Dr. Oatley investigates post-diagnostic community-based support for people with dementia, the role of extra care housing models, and the impact of physical activity and leisure on well-being. Current projects include NIHR-funded research on food-related practices in dementia support groups and a study on sport reminiscence activities.
