Dr. Rebecca Liu is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing and Innovation Management at the Lancaster University Management School (LUMS). She holds an MBA from the University of Missouri (USA) and a PhD from the University of Strathclyde (UK). Her research focuses on innovation management, design thinking, sustainability, SMEs, and digitalization. She has secured grants from prestigious bodies like the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation and PDMA, leading projects on design-driven innovation and SME engagement in emerging markets. Her work emphasizes balancing business sustainability with digitalization and explores cross-country collaborations, such as with Hitotsubashi University.
Dr. Liu teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses including Managing Marketing Innovation, Marketing Research, and Marketing Management at LUMS and EMLyon Business School. She is a Council Member of the British Academy of Management (BAM) and serves as an External Examiner at the Open University and Sheffield Hallam University. Her research has been published in top-tier journals like Industrial Marketing Management and presented at global conferences.
Her current projects explore sustainability-trinity (sustainability, design thinking, digitalization), public innovation funding’s impact on SME exports, and behavioral competencies in entrepreneurial finance. She actively mentors PhD students in innovation management, digitalization, and cross-country studies.
