Dr. Rebecca Bramall is a Reader in Cultural Politics at the London College of Communication (LCC), part of the University of the Arts London. She leads the MA Media, Communications and Critical Practice course, blending academic rigor with practical engagement. Previously, she served as Senior Lecturer in Media Studies at the University of Brighton and held roles in cultural institutions like the ICA, BFI, and The Women’s Library. Her research critically examines intersections of culture and economy, with a focus on austerity’s sociopolitical dimensions.
Her work explores how austerity policies shape cultural narratives, economic frameworks, and everyday life. Key themes include tax justice, neoliberalism, and the role of memory in policy-making. Recent publications include The Cultural Politics of Austerity (2013), analyzing historical and contemporary austerity narratives. She also investigates Brexit’s impact on cultural identities and tax avoidance discourses.
Bramall’s research engages with redistributive imaginaries, corporate tax ethics, and anti-austerity protest movements. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges media studies, political economy, and sociology, offering insights into systemic inequalities and cultural resistance. She actively contributes to public discourse through publications and media engagement, advocating for equitable policy frameworks.
