Professor Sue Konzelmann is a Professor of Economics at Birkbeck Business School, part of Birkbeck, University of London. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Notre Dame (1991) and has held visiting posts at the University of Cambridge, including Senior Research Fellow roles. Her research focuses on political economics, austerity, corporate governance, and progressive economic theory. She has authored influential works like *The Economics of Austerity* (2014) and *Austerity* (2019), and serves as Co-Executive Editor of the *Cambridge Journal of Economics*.
Her academic journey includes administrative roles such as Programme Director for multiple MSc programs at Birkbeck, and leadership in research centers like the London Centre for Corporate Governance and Ethics (2008–2018). She has advised doctoral researchers in areas like corporate purpose and governance, and her teaching includes modules on Corporate Governance and Management Principles.
Her professional memberships include the Progressive Economy Forum and the Cambridge Political Economy Society. Her recent work critiques austerity's socio-economic impacts and explores capitalist systems' structural challenges, contributing to debates on public policy and industrial strategy.
