Ravi L. Hadimani

Dr. Ravi L. Hadimani serves as Associate Professor and Director of the Biomagnetics Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University, currently on sabbatical as a Visiting Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School. He additionally holds editorial positions for Frontiers of Neuroscience and American Institute of Physics (AIP) Advances.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Cardiff University, UK

His research specializes in biomagnetic materials for biomedical applications, magnetocaloric heating/cooling systems, and energy harvesting technologies, highlighted by development of the first anatomically accurate brain phantom for neuromodulation validation, commercialized through university spin-off RAM Phantoms LLC.

Major scientific recognitions include:

• Engineer of the Year award (Richmond Joint Engineers’ Council, 2021)

Dr. Hadimani has authored over 100 peer-reviewed journal papers, 210+ conference proceedings, 12 patents, and multiple book chapters. His professional leadership encompasses founding the IEEE Joint Magnetics and Engineering in Medicine/Biology Richmond Chapter (current vice chair), serving as Chair of IEEE Magnetics Society Richmond Chapter (2016-2020), and directing the 2019 IEEE Magnetics Summer School.
