Ratula Chakraborty is a Professor of Business Management at the Norwich Business School (NBS), University of East Anglia. She is a member of the Marketing Group and the Centre for Competition Policy. Her roles include Internationalisation Coordinator for NBS and Media Communications Officer. She has held leadership positions such as Associate Dean for Learning and Teaching Quality (2014–2018) and Director of MSc Programmes (2010–2021). She holds a PhD in Retailing and Marketing, MBA, MA in Geography, and a BA Hons degree.
Her research focuses on retailing and marketing with emphasis on pricing strategies, competition policy, and public health. Key areas include supermarket pricing dynamics, food safety, alcohol policy, and waste management. Her work has influenced UK and EU policies, with collaborations across institutions like the Medical Research Council and Economic and Social Research Council. She has secured £1.3m in grants, including a £1.1m co-investigator role on alcohol policy research.
Ratula advises regulators and policymakers on competition issues and has provided expert commentary for major media outlets. She contributes to initiatives like the Chartered Association of Business Schools’ EDI committee and leadership development programmes for women in academia.
