Dr Lucill Curtis serves as Associate Professor of Marketing and Associate Dean for Internationalisation at Norwich Business School (NBS), University of East Anglia (UEA), where she joined in September 2017 after teaching at Essex Business School. With over 16 years of professional experience in marketing communications across pharmaceutical/healthcare sectors, local government, and as a consultant, she brings substantial industry expertise to her academic role.
Her academic credentials include a BA (Hons) in English Literature, Postgraduate diplomas in Journalism, PR and Education, an MBA (distinction) with Chartered Management Institute Award (2012), and a PhD in Digital Organisational Storytellers: Online Marketing as Identity Work from the University of Essex (2017). She holds professional distinctions as Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (FCIM), and Certified Management and Business Educator (CMBE).
Dr Curtis's research centers on digital marketing with particular focus on consumer responses to digital technologies in higher education and organizations. Her work spans social media management in B2B contexts, online customer experience, and digital transformation. She leads the Digital Marketing module for undergraduates and Marketing and Customer Focus for MBA students, while supervising digital marketing-related MSc dissertations and PhDs.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong trajectory toward emerging technologies in education and business, with significant attention to the metaverse in higher education, digital transformation across sectors, and the intersection of mental health with academic work demands. Her research consistently bridges theoretical frameworks with practical business applications.
