Raquel K Bergen

Raquel K Bergen is a Professor of Sociology at Saint Joseph’s University, where she joined the faculty in 1993. She holds a Ph.D. and Master’s Degree from the University of Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Saint Joseph’s University.

Her research focuses on violence against women, particularly intimate partner sexual violence and sexual/physical violence during pregnancy. She has authored numerous scholarly publications and five books, including Wife Rape: Understanding the Response of Survivors and Service Providers and Sourcebook on Violence Against Women. Her work has been published in journals like The Journal of Interpersonal Violence and Violence Against Women.

Rachel K Bergen is a Fellow at the Institute for Violence Research and Prevention and was appointed to the Pennsylvania State Ethics Commission in 2004. She actively educates advocates nationwide on intimate partner sexual violence and serves as faculty moderator for Saint Joseph’s Rape Education Prevention Program (REPP).
