Claire M. Renzetti is a Professor of Sociology and holds the Judi Conway Patton Endowed Chair for Studies of Violence Against Women at the University of Kentucky. She is affiliated with the Center for Research on Violence Against Women and serves as Editor for multiple academic series and journals, including Violence Against Women: An International, Interdisciplinary Journal (SAGE), the Gender & Justice Series (University of California Press), and the Interpersonal Violence Series (Oxford University Press). Her research focuses on criminology, gender studies, and interpersonal violence, with emphasis on campus sexual assault, religiosity's role in violence, and gender-based violence in families.
Her current projects include analyzing a therapeutic horticulture program for survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV) and consulting on NIJ-funded research about transitional housing programs. She has also co-edited works on gendered violence and co-authored studies on students' perceptions of responsibility in campus sexual assault cases.
Renzetti’s work bridges academic research and practical advocacy, with a focus on feminist praxis and policy interventions. Her publications span sociological theory, legal decision-making, and mixed-methods research methodologies.
