Rania Ghosn is an Associate Professor of Architecture and Urbanism at MIT, directing the SMArchS Urbanism program. She co-founded DESIGN EARTH, a practice addressing climate crisis through architectural and urban interventions. Her work bridges art, science, and activism, exhibited globally at institutions like MoMA, Venice Biennale, and V&A Museum. She holds a BA from the American University of Beirut, an MSc in Geography from UCL, and a PhD from Harvard GSD.
Her research focuses on climate inheritance, geoengineering, and legacy geographies. Notable projects include Climate Inheritance (2023), The Planet After Geoengineering (2021), and Geostories (2022). She explores speculative fictions and cultural institutions' roles in climate action through animations like Elephant in the Room.
Ghosn received the United States Artist Fellowship and Architectural League Prize. Her grants include funding from the Graham Foundation, MIT CAST, and Taubman College. She co-edited Worlding. Energy. Transitions for the Journal of Architectural Education.
