Peñarroyo's projects like Online/On-site (Detroit digital divide mapping) and Lossy/Lossless (Los Angeles installation) interrogate digital infrastructure's impact on urban life. He has exhibited internationally at venues including the Venice Biennale, Harvard GSD, and Parsons School of Design.
His research engages computational design, media theory, and post-digital materiality, often through collaborative installations and speculative urban proposals. Grants from Taubman College and the Graham Foundation support his community-focused design experiments.
