Dr. Rajive Tiwari is a Professor of Mathematics at Belmont Abbey College, part of the Physical Sciences school. His research focuses on low-temperature physics and the historical intersections of science, religion, and politics in colonial and postcolonial India. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Rutgers University, an M.S. in Physics from Rutgers, and a B.Sc. from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University.
His research explores how science interacted with religious and national identity in colonial India, particularly through Hindi-language media and education. He has published works on decolonization in science, the role of missionaries in scientific autonomy, and the cultural adaptation of scientific terminology in Hindi.
Dr. Tiwari has presented at conferences such as the AAPT Summer Meeting and the International Congress of History of Science and Technology. He is a member of AAPT’s Committee on History and Philosophy (2024–2027). His academic work extends to physics education, including textbook reviews and test development for teacher certification programs.
