Professor Radka Newton holds a Personal Chair in Management Education and Innovation at the Lancaster University Management School (LUMS). She leads the Curriculum Transformation Programme and serves as an adjunct faculty member at Católica Porto Business School. Her research focuses on advancing scholarship in management education through human-centered design principles, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and integrating ESG frameworks. She specializes in policy design for regional governments and student-centered learning environments.
Education qualifications include a PhD in Applied Linguistics from Palacký University (Top 3 in the Czech Republic), an Executive MBA from Lancaster University, and certifications in executive coaching and higher education management. Her teaching spans postgraduate modules such as Design Thinking and Innovation, Strategic Management, and Professional Development.
Research interests emphasize experiential learning, co-designing curricula with students, and applying design thinking to deliver sustainable educational practices. She explores how educators can adopt creative methodologies to promote collaboration and institutional change. Recent projects include Innovation Across Boundaries (2021–2024) and IN-PLACE: Connecting Design and Policy for Net-Zero Targets (2023–2025).
Publications highlight themes like visual ethnography in policy design, regenerative curricula, and measuring SoTL impact. Awards include the Pilkington Teaching Award. She actively contributes to professional committees such as the EFMD Masters Centre and Chartered Association of Business Schools LTSE Committee. Her work bridges academia and civic engagement, aiming to drive positive community impact through education and policy initiatives.
Current engagements include external examiner roles at Nottingham Trent University and University College Cork, alongside leadership in the Business Education Scholarship & Teaching (BEST) network. Her research groups involve the Lancaster Evaluation Group and the Centre for Scholarship and Innovation in Management Education.
