Emma Watton is a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Department of Entrepreneurship and Strategy at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS), where she teaches on UK and international postgraduate programmes and concurrently pursues her PhD. She served as Executive MBA Programme Director (2019-2023), Admissions Director for MSc HR & Consulting (2016-2018), and Programme Director for MSc Leadership Practice & Responsibility (2014-2017).

- Responsible and sustainable leadership in management education
- Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) in higher education
Her 2024 scholarly outputs explore embedding sustainability into leadership curricula, reflexive teaching practice, and sharing pedagogical innovations to foster independent and effective learning among postgraduate students. Conference papers and blog contributions emphasise experiential, responsible management education.

Advising & grants
Emma currently co-leads two externally time-bound research projects: 'Co-creating sustainable communities: Dissertation In Place' (2023-2024) and 'Dissertation in Place' (2023-2025), aimed at integrating place-based sustainability issues into postgraduate research. She is an active member of the Academy for Gender and Social Justice Research in Organisations and the Centre for Scholarship and Innovation in Management Education, supporting grant-aligned collaborative research on responsible leadership and inclusive pedagogy.

She participates in LUMS’s Education for Sustainability workshops, the Developing Leadership Capacity Conference series, and interdisciplinary collaboratories designed to mainstream UN Sustainable Development Goals within management education.
