Rachel Woolf

Rachel Woolf, D.M.A., is an Assistant Professor of Flute at the University of Texas at San Antonio School of Music. A multidisciplinary artist, she performs as Principal Flute with the Victoria Bach Festival, the San Antonio Philharmonic, and Dallas-based symphonic pop rock band The Polyphonic Spree, while also engaging in jazz, freeform improvisation, and Hindustani North Indian flute traditions.

Her research focuses on expanding the flute repertoire beyond Western classical traditions through commissions and performances of works by diverse composers, including themes of climate change and social resilience. She actively explores live looping techniques and global musical perspectives.

Rachel leads the UTSA Flute Ensemble, which has performed at major national festivals including the National Flute Association Convention and Texas Music Educators Association Convention. She has premiered works by Paul Schoenfield, William Bolcom, Jennifer Higdon, and others.
