Jordan D. Boyd

Dr. Jordan D. Boyd serves as Assistant Professor of Practice and Assistant Director of Choral Activities at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) within the College of Liberal and Fine Arts. He conducts the Concert Choir and University Chorus, serves as musical director for UTSA Lyric Theatre productions, and teaches choral literature and vocal techniques courses.

His educational credentials include:

• D.M.A. in Choral Conducting from the University of North Texas
• Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music
• Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance and Music Theory/Composition from the College of Charleston

Dr. Boyd's professional focus centers on choral conducting, vocal pedagogy, and innovative performance practices. His work emphasizes music literacy, healthy vocal production techniques, and creating transformative choral experiences across academic, community, and professional settings. His expertise spans both traditional choral repertoire and contemporary musical theatre/opera productions.

His ensembles have earned prestigious recognition:

• First Place in the 2022 American Prize for Choral Performance (University of North Texas Chorale)
• National Finalist for the American Prize in Choral Performance (Goose Creek Chamber Choir, 2019)

Dr. Boyd maintains an active performance career as a choral artist with IlluMen of San Antonio and has served as Assistant Conductor for the Dallas Symphony Chorus and Associate Music Director for the Charleston Symphony Orchestra Chorus. His professional trajectory bridges academic instruction, ensemble direction, and stage performance across K-12, university, and professional contexts.
