Rachel Phillips is a National Science Foundation STEM Education Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of South Carolina's School of the Earth, Ocean and Environment. With a PhD in Geological Sciences from the University of Texas at El Paso, her research bridges paleoceanography and geoscience education, focusing on strengthening paleoceanographic proxies and transforming geoscience enrollment through outreach.
Her research interests include biogeochemistry, geomicrobiology, and science communication, demonstrated through her educational YouTube channel GEO GIRL. She teaches 'Processes of Global Environmental Change' and has received prestigious awards including the NSF Postdoctoral Fellowship and GSA Science Communication Fellowship.
