Samuel Jaccard is an Associate Professor in Paleoclimatic Sedimentology at the Institute of Earth Sciences (ISTE), Université de Lausanne (UNIL), since August 2020. He holds a Bachelor's and Master's in Geology from UNIL and a PhD in Earth Sciences from ETH Zurich (2006). His research focuses on reconstructing past ocean environments using sedimentological and geochemical data, with emphasis on nutrient cycling, oxygen availability in marine ecosystems, and carbon sequestration. He has held positions at ETH Zurich, the University of Bern's Oeschger Centre, and contributed to IPCC activities.
