معرفی
Daniel E. Ibarra is the Manning Assistant Professor of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences at Brown University, with a secondary appointment in the Institute at Brown for Environment & Society (IBES). His research focuses on terrestrial biogeochemistry and paleoclimatology, integrating geochemical measurements, field observations, and modeling to understand Earth's water and carbon cycles. He holds a PhD from Stanford University and completed postdoctoral fellowships at UC Berkeley. His work addresses anthropogenic climate change impacts, lithium deposit characterization, and enhanced weathering strategies for carbon removal. He serves as Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in IBES and leads initiatives promoting diversity in geosciences.
Education: BS (dual Civil & Environmental Engineering and Geological Sciences, Stanford), MS (Geological Sciences, Stanford), PhD (Earth System Science, Stanford).
Key research interests include:
- Climate-weathering feedback mechanisms
- Modern and ancient hydroclimate dynamics
- Lithium-rich lake deposits
- Geochemical proxy development
Awards: Miller Institute Postdoctoral Fellowship (2019-2021), Balik Scientist (2019), AGILE NSF-funded diversity project leader.
Grants: NSF, NASA, DOE, Heising-Simon Foundation. Active roles in LunaSCOPE (NASA SSERVI) and Sustainable Energy Initiative at Brown.
Labs/Teams: Terrestrial Biogeochemistry and Paleoclimatology Lab at Brown University.
