Dr. Rachel Peters is a human resources faculty member with a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from the University of the Cumberlands. She teaches courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels in Human Resources, Business, and Leadership. Her academic and professional work centers on adult learning, workforce equity, and organizational development.

Her research and teaching interests include Human Resources Management, Leadership Studies, Organizational Behavior, Career Development, and Adult Education. She emphasizes an andragogy-based teaching approach, encouraging adult learners to integrate personal experience with theoretical concepts for real-world application in professional settings.
Dr. Peters holds the PHR® and SHRM-SCP® certifications and is an active member of the National SHRM® Executive Network and the Northwest Louisiana SHRM Chapter. She is also a Master Certified MBTI Practitioner and Strong Interest Inventory Administrator, contributing to individual and organizational development beyond the classroom.
She has held senior HR roles including Chief Human Resources Officer and Director of Career Services. She serves on the Board of the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum and the Northwest Louisiana SHRM Chapter, and is an officer in her local Alpha Omicron Pi alumnae chapter and a member of the Junior League Association. These roles reflect her commitment to community engagement and professional service.
Dr. Peters is passionate about international travel, cultural experiences, and spending time with family and friends.
