Rachel E. Albert

Dr. Rachel E. Albert is a Professor of Nursing and Allied Health at the University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK), where she has served for nearly 30 years. She holds administrative roles including Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean of the Faculty, and has contributed to strategic planning, accreditation, and curriculum development. Her expertise spans nursing education, gerontology, telehealth, and health disparities. Dr. Albert is certified in Advanced Online Teaching and Society for College and University Planning (SCUP). She chairs Aroostook County’s District Coordinating Council for Public Health and serves on multiple healthcare boards.

Education: BSN (1985) and MSN (1990) from UMFK and University of Texas Health Science Center, respectively, and a Ph.D. in Nursing Science from Case Western Reserve University (2001). Leadership training includes HERS Management Institute, Leadership Maine, and ACE Fellowship.

Research focuses on teaching strategies in online environments, evidence-based practice, aging populations, rural telehealth, and health literacy. She co-leads the University of Maine Aging Initiative, addressing medication safety, cognitive impairment, mobility, and caregiver support.
