Dr. Tanya Sleeper is a Professor of Adult Health Nursing at the University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK). She holds roles as Executive Director and Director of Nursing at Aroostook Home Health Services/Valley Home Health Services. Additionally, she serves as an adjunct faculty member at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. Her professional affiliations include committee roles in healthcare and education sectors, such as the Board of Education for RSU 39 (Chair), Maine Rural Geriatric Conference planning committee, Pines Health Services board of directors finance committee, Aroostook District Coordinating Council for Public Health, and vice president of the Aroostook Mental Health Center board of directors.
Education: BSN (UMFK, 1998), MS in Business (Husson College, 2000), MSN and Geriatric Nurse Practitioner (Saint Louis University, 2004), Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration (Walden University, 2013). Currently pursuing a law degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
Research interests focus on geriatric care, healthcare policy, and nursing education. She contributes to academic journals as an editorial board member for the International Journal of Nursing and Clinical Practices and Journal of Comprehensive Nursing Care and Research. Since 2017, she has been a faculty associate at the University of Maine’s Center on Aging.
Awards include recognition for her contributions to nursing education and faculty excellence. In her personal time, she enjoys family, travel, baking, and continuous learning.
