Rachael Pettigrew is an Associate Professor and Chair of the General Management & Human Resources department at the Bissett School of Business, Mount Royal University. With over 20 years of teaching experience across multiple institutions, her research focuses on gender dynamics in workplaces, organizational culture, and policy analysis, particularly regarding parental leave, LGBTQ+ inclusivity, and migrant workers. She holds a PhD from the University of Manitoba and degrees from the University of Tennessee and Berea College.
Her research explores barriers faced by women and gender-diverse individuals in board roles, employer adaptation to extended parental leave policies, and pandemic impacts on work-life balance. Notable grants include SSHRC-funded projects on fertility care policies and international childcare access. She actively engages in public speaking and media discussions on diversity, equity, and workplace policies.
Dr. Pettigrew’s service roles include chairing the HR Partnership Council and leading MRU’s International Women’s Day events. Awards include the 2024 Distinguished Faculty Award for scholarly excellence, teaching, and service.
