R. Keith Lilly is a full-time Lecturer of History at Concord University, affiliated with the Department of Humanities in the College of Professional and Liberal Studies. He has taught primarily at the Concord University Center in Beckley since 2011 and previously served as an Adjunct Professor from 1998 to 2011. His research focuses on diplomatic history, particularly Anglo-American relations in the late 19th century, including the Hay-Pauncefote Treaty and Canadian-Alaskan Boundary Dispute.
- Education: B.A. in History and Political Science from Concord College (1993); M.A. in History from Virginia Tech (thesis: Anglo-American Diplomacy, 1895-1905)
He has contributed to educational initiatives like the Southern West Virginia Teaching American History Project (US Dept. of Education grant) and PRISM-WV, both aimed at improving history education in West Virginia schools. Since 2017, he has organized the Concord Southern Open Chess Tournament and oversees the Beckley Chess Club. His recent publication explores U.S.-British diplomatic dynamics in the 1895-1905 period.
