Dr. Kathryn Nutter-Pridgen is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Director of Women’s and Gender Studies at Concord University. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and Gender, Sexualities, and Women’s Studies Research from the University of Florida (2015), an M.A. in Sociology from Ohio University (2008), and a B.A. in Psychology with Women’s and Gender Studies certificates from Ohio University (2005).
Her research focuses on identities, inequalities, and intersectionality (race, class, gender, sexualities); social psychology (particularly wisdom studies); families; and social movements. She is also skilled in qualitative methodologies, feminist theories, and grant writing.
Dr. Pridgen has published extensively on topics like bisexual activism, wisdom research, and family dynamics. She actively serves on academic committees, including the Faculty Executive Board (2020), and mentors McNair scholars and independent research projects. She is a long-standing member of professional organizations including the American Sociological Association and Sociologists for Women in Society.
Her work emphasizes diversity advocacy and effective research practices, with a commitment to bridging theoretical and applied sociology.
