Dr. Shawn Allen is an Associate Professor of Social Work and Co-Director of the CU in Schools program at Concord University. He holds a BSW from Concord University (2007), MSW from West Virginia University (2011), and DSW from Tulane University (2021). His professional licenses include Licensed Social Worker (since 2007), Licensed Graduate Social Worker (2011), and Licensed Certified Social Worker (2022).

Research focuses on aging, rural service delivery systems, ethical social work practices, and professional supervision. As a grant writer, he secured $4.8M from entities like the Council on Social Work Education and U.S. Department of Education. Active in disability advocacy, he serves on the WV Developmental Disabilities Council (2024), WV Olmstead Council, WV Behavioral Health Planning Council, and Mercer County's Special Needs Collaborative.
Collaborates through the CU in Schools program and contributes to community initiatives addressing special needs and behavioral health. His career began at the Appalachian Area Agency on Aging as a regional coordinator for West Virginia’s Aging and Disability Resource Center.
