Dr. Qian Li is a Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of Southampton, affiliated with the School of Economic, Social and Political Sciences. She joined the university in 2022 and holds a Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Her research focuses on macroeconomics, public finance, computational economics, and artificial intelligence, with a particular emphasis on taxation theory, economic inequality, and welfare analysis. She is actively supervising PhD students and accepting applications in these areas.
Her research explores topics such as the welfare implications of universal basic income, consumption-saving decisions under environmental policies (e.g., AQI), and tax reforms' dynamic effects. Recent work includes studies on consumption taxation's welfare consequences and the interplay between durable goods and tax policy.
