Preben Bendtsen is Professor at Linköping University's Department of Health, Medicine and Caring Sciences, where he leads research on lifestyle interventions for chronic disease prevention. His work develops digital health solutions targeting tobacco cessation, alcohol reduction, and physical activity promotion through personalized feedback systems and SMS-based support programs.
Research focuses on implementing evidence-based interventions in primary care settings, with recent studies examining socioeconomic determinants of health behaviors within large cohort studies like the Swedish SCAPIS project. Publications demonstrate methodological expertise in randomized controlled trials, qualitative implementation research, and analysis of behavioral co-occurrence patterns.
Current projects include NEXit (smoking cessation for secondary students), ViSiT (health interventions for overweight men), and AMADEUS (alcohol reduction programs). These initiatives bridge digital technology with clinical practice to create scalable public health solutions.
