Nadine Karlsson is an Associate Professor and Docent in Social Medicine and Public Health at the Department of Health, Medicine and Caring Sciences, Linköping University. She specializes in epidemiological methodologies to study public health risks and consequences of sickness absence/disability pensions. She teaches in the Medical School’s Master’s program, coordinating courses in Social Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
Education: Dipl. ‘Statisticien économiste’ (1988, ENSAE Paris), Master in Statistics and Stochastic Processes (1988, INSA P-G Paris), Master in Statistics and Operations Research (1992, Princeton University), PhD in Social Medicine (2007, Karolinska Institutet).
Research focuses on public health epidemiology, including an EU-funded project (IMPROVA) promoting adolescent mental health. She supervises PhD students and leads research groups within the Division of Society and Health and Unit of Public Health. Current projects include AMADEUS (SMS alcohol interventions for students), ViSiT (overweight men’s health), and NEXit (smoking cessation pre-surgery).
Recent publications analyze healthcare work environments, physician/nurse job satisfaction, and equitable heart attack care. Collaborates internationally through IMPROVA and EU initiatives.
