Mr Pishun Tantivangphaisal is a Research Assistant in Geotechnics at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Imperial College London. He is a practicing geotechnical engineer specializing in computational geomechanics, driven to bridge research and industry practice, particularly in advancing geotechnical design through soil constitutive models.
- Education:
- PhD in Geotechnical Engineering (Imperial College London, 2022–present)
- MSc in Soil Mechanics (Imperial College London, 2020–2021)
- BEng in Civil and Environmental Engineering (Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, 2018)
- BBA in General Business Management (Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, 2018)
His research focuses on modeling offshore foundations under long-term cyclic loads via finite element analyses, integrating numerical models into holistic geotechnical design methods that account for soil-structure interactions throughout the foundation design life. He is keenly interested in quantifying geotechnical prediction reliability from a Bayesian perspective, especially for complex numerical analyses in routine design. He holds non-academic experience as a Geotechnical Engineer at Arup Group (2018–2025) and will begin an Assistant Professor role at Imperial College London on 5 January 2026.
