Piret Ehin is a Professor of Comparative Politics and Deputy Head for Research at the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies, University of Tartu. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Arizona (2002). Her research focuses on democracy, elections, European integration, and technology's role in governance. She has advised over 50 MA theses and three doctoral dissertations. She leads large-scale projects like the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence and collaborates with international institutions including the European Parliament and Stanford University.

- Grants & Leadership: Coordinated Horizon 2020 projects (e.g., UPTAKE) and led the Centre for EU-Russia Studies (2011–2019). Currently chairs the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence.
- Awards: Stanford Fellowship (2022), Rein Taagepera Award (2002), and multiple scholarships.
Her articles analyze EU enlargement, Baltic-Russian relations, and pandemic-era populism. She advises the Johan Skytte Prize committee and represents Tartu in the Baltic Geopolitics Network (Cambridge University-led).
