معرفی
Prof. Piet Gros is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Utrecht University, affiliated with the Bijvoet Centre for Biomolecular Research. His research focuses on structural biochemistry, complement system mechanisms, membrane protein dynamics, and crystallographic method development. He leads a multidisciplinary lab investigating molecular recognition processes in immunity and cancer, particularly through X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM. Key contributions include elucidating the structural basis of tetraspanin microdomains, STEAP metal-reductase enzymes, and complement activation pathways. Gros has secured significant funding, including an ERC Advanced Grant (2018) and the Spinoza Prize (2010), and collaborates widely with academic and industry partners.
Research Interests: Complement System, Membrane Proteins, Structural Biology, Protein Engineering, Immune Regulation, Biomedical Applications.
Grants & Awards: ERC Advanced Grant (C-CLEAR, 2018), Spinoza Premium (2010), NWO Gravitation Programme funding, ZonMW grants.
Lab Activities: Integrates structural, biochemical, and computational approaches to study protein complexes involved in immune defense and cancer. Current projects include R-spondin signaling, properdin-mediated complement activation, and therapeutic antibody design targeting STEAP1 in cancer.
