Phil Slater is a Senior Lecturer in Jazz Studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney. A renowned jazz trumpeter and composer, he holds a PhD in skill acquisition theory and has performed globally with ensembles like the Australian Chamber Orchestra and Australian Art Orchestra. His research focuses on ecological approaches to music pedagogy, improvisation, and nonlinear skill development.
