Dr. Peter Watt is a Lecturer in Organisation, Work and Technology at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS), where he joined in 2023. Previously, he held roles at York Business School (2014-2018), Newcastle Business School (2018-2019), and Lancaster University Leipzig (2019-2022). He holds a BA in English Literature, MA in Human Resource and Knowledge Management, and PhD in Organisation, Work and Technology, all from Lancaster University.
His research focuses on the history of management thought, cultural/philosophical/theological foundations of modern practices, Henry Ford’s legacy, intersections between literary fiction and organizational studies, and the cultural history of HRM/HRD. Key themes include 'boredom' and 'danger' in Ernst Jünger’s work. He teaches courses such as MNGT321 (Business Management in the 21st Century), OWT508 (Doing Organisational Research), and MNGT320 (Rethinking Leadership).
Watt has contributed to peer-reviewed journals and encyclopedias, including entries on 'Scientific Management' and 'Fordism'. His awards include the Management Learning Best Book Review Award and the Alan Moon Memorial Prize. He advises PhD student Hannah Jackson and collaborates with research groups like the Centre for Technological Futures.
Recent projects include exploring Nietzsche, Jünger, and work metaphysics, and examining Action Inquiry and Reg Revans’ legacy. His work bridges historical analysis with contemporary organizational challenges.
