Peter McKiernan is a Professor of Management at the University of Strathclyde's Strathclyde Business School, affiliated with the Department of Strategy and Organisation and the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship, Strategy and Innovation. He holds adjunct and distinguished adjunct professorships at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the University of Notre Dame Australia, and a fellowship at Murdoch University, Australia. He is currently a part-time faculty member and serves as the Executive Academic Director of Strathclyde's Dubai campus.

McKiernan's research focuses on strategic management, scenario planning, organizational turnaround, and responsible research in business. His work explores how organizations anticipate future challenges and adapt their strategies, with applications in SMEs, public policy, and global sectors. He has led numerous scenario planning initiatives across four continents for governments, cities, and multinational organizations.
His recent publications highlight trends in responsible research, stakeholder engagement in strategy, bottom-up strategic practices in SMEs, and the ethical dimensions of management scholarship. These works reflect a strong commitment to impactful, ethically grounded research that bridges academia and practice.

He currently sits on the editorial boards of several academic journals and frequently delivers keynote addresses worldwide.
He leads the strategy and foresight consulting group at Strathclyde and has held leadership roles including Interim Head of Department, Global MBA Director, and Co-Chair of the EURAM Conference. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in education and responsible management.
