Professor Trevor Buck is a part-time Research Professor in International Business and Business Policy at the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow. With a 40-year academic career spanning universities in Belfast, Nottingham, Perth (Australia), Leicester, and Loughborough, he specializes in executive pay, family business dynamics, and internationalization strategies. His research focuses on case study methodologies, corporate governance, and institutional challenges in global business.
Current affiliations include visiting professorships at Strathclyde University and NUI Galway, and an honorary professorship at Heriot-Watt University. He has held grants from the Leverhulme Trust, ESRC, and British Academy, exploring topics like executive compensation in China and entrepreneurial innovation in emerging markets.
His research interests emphasize international business processes, strategic responses to extreme environments, and the interplay between cultural values and regulatory frameworks. Recent work addresses digital transformation in SMEs and case study credibility in management research.
Dr. Buck co-supervises PhD students on topics such as export turnaround in China, institutional barriers in Palestine, and government support for strategic entrepreneurship. His 37+ publications span journals like the Journal of International Business Studies and Academy of Management Journal, with a focus on methodological rigor and global business challenges.
